DANCEFIX is excited to present our 4 week Specialty Workshop Series, Adult Modern Technique by Ka-Ron Lehman!!! This workshop will take place for 4 Sundays, July 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th, from 1:45-3:15pm at our DANCEFIX Blue Ash studio. This is an open level modern technique class for adults. Students may sign up for all 4 weeks or drop in. DANCEFIX class passes may not be used for this workshop. The cost for the entire workshop is $60. A single class drop-in is $20. A choreographer, teacher and former artistic director for the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts dance department. Ms. Lehman began her artistic adventure at the age of 11, when hand selected to join the Ebony Showcase (now Nate Holden Theater) Youth Ensemble under the Direction of founder, Nick Stewart. At 13 received a full Ballet Scholarship with Carolyn Skyers, and at age 14 was awarded a full Ballet scholarship with Erglis J. Smaltzoff. Age 15-18 performed as a featured artist with Smaltzoff Ballet Ensemble, Andre Tremaine’s Pacific Ballet, and Joseph Rickard African-American Ballet. Her later years dancing gained a rich legacy of dance credits on the concert stages, TV Variety Series, Award Specials, Broadway, Theatre, Film, and Commercials, as a featured muse for well-known choreographers like Joe Bennett, Miguel Godreau, Tom Hansen, Joe Layton, Donald McKayle, Jamie Rodgers, Claude Thompson, David Winters, Rob Iscove; and a host of others. A dedicated educator of 51 years, known throughout the US, Finland, Canada and Australia, for motivating students to unlock their emotions through dance. Her numerous awards include the American Choreography & Educator Award, the Distinguished Teacher Award from the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars; NAACP Award for Choreography and Educator of the Year, a Drama Logue Critics Award, and received LA Grants. Founded the Annual Lehman Dance Awards, Lehman Dance Company, and produced/directed S.O.S. Katrina, (raising $13,000 for recovery and rebuilding). Since moving to Cincinnati, Ohio June 2007, Ms. Lehman has choreographed works for Contemporary Dance Theater’s Cincinnati’s Choreographers’ Without and the 40th Anniversary Season for Area Choreographers’ Festival Companies, Ms. Lehman has choreographed such works as Heart of a Woman, Helen Keller, The Other Room, and Recurring Dreams, “Within the Garden of Change”; “The Last Train”, (a collaboration with CDT and Llanfair Center), all presented at the Aronoff. Ms. Lehman is a Board member for the Greater Cincinnati Dance Alliance, co-directed of the 2012 to present GCDA Dance College Fair, Co-Director for Cincinnati Choreographers Collective; adjudicates the Overture Awards; an Advisory Board for Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Lehman is presently teaching the Lehman Modern Technique at the Otto M. Budig Academy of Cincinnati Ballet; UC Conservatory of Music; the School for Creative and Performing Arts at Erich Kunzel Center for Arts Education; Claudia Barrett’s Ballet Tech Ohio; De La Arts Ballet Academy; and Northern Cincinnati Youth Ballet… In addition, has participated in CDT’s Guest artists master class series since arriving in Cincinnati, OH in 2007. In 2010, Ms. Lehman was invited by Victoria Morgan, to create and choreograph a première work, on the Cincinnati Ballet Company for their fall 2010 New Works’ Project; entitled “The Periapt”, a fable danced to original music composed by CCM Professor Maestro Michael Chertock. Recently choreographed a work introducing the 2015 CB Second Company in Washington park with POPS’ Symphony to “Rolling River”
