Moved to Action is a 3-part series designed to bring together a diverse coalition to learn from one another and collectively develop our leadership in addressing items related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Spring 2018 Moved to Action series will focus on issues relating to race and gender.
There have been a number of recent bias related incidents in the region, disproportionately affecting youth and young adults. These events demand that adults come together in an effort to dive deeper into exploring our own identity development and to engage in conversations related to race and gender.
March 21: Session 1: What Do I Believe?
• Setting the foundation of the series by having participants reflect on their beliefs regarding issues of race and gender and practice sharing these within diverse groups.
April 4: Session 2: Why Do I Believe This?
• Exploring the messages and experiences that shaped your beliefs around race and gender and examining the experiences which impacted your actions.
April 18: Session 3: How Do I Engage Those Who Believe Differently?
• In the final session, participants will challenge themselves in THE work of engaging in courageous conversations with individuals from different backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences.
All Sessions are from 6:00pm – 8:30pm and will be held at Lighthouse Youth Services, 400 E. McMillan, Cincinnati, OH 45206. Free Parking and Refreshments will be provided.
Moved to Action is facilitated by Youth at the Center with support from Public Allies Cincinnati and Teach for America Southwest Ohio.
