**We will be meeting in the Tower Room**
Building an effective independent movement to demand liberation for Black and oppressed people requires a clear understanding of movement's past.
Nearly, every time a city administration lets a cop kill a Black person and walk free, when they do the public announcement we hear something like, «this is a tragedy, but remember MLK would be peaceful» or some garbage to that effect. MLK has become the catch phrase for «sit back and take this beating.» Is that the real history of the civil rights movement? Did women and men just march and that's it? Was self defense organized? Is «non violent protest» the same as pacifism? How do we defend ourselves from racist attack, while building a movement and street actions that are as broad based and safe as possible? We have a lot to pick apart. It's a life and death question for us all.
There will be food provided. Message the facebook page if you'd like to provide a dish for the event.
