It starts with breath, and the body follows. It all flows together. Join us for a six week small group to practice restorative yoga. We will name intentions, practice gentle shapes including modified Sun Salutations,and also practice Pranayama and Shavasana meditation. The time will be designed for internal and external reset. Body practices are key to reauthoring our life, to reprogramming and to recovery. No prior experience or equipment is necessary.
Speaking up one evening at a 12-step recovery meeting about his physical trauma, multiple back surgeries and seemingly relentless chronic pain, Matt Ionna was invited to try Reiki and Yoga. It wasn't easy; the pain persisted, but so did Matt. Many nights simply surrendering to the mat, in stillness and breath, as the class continued in movement. In time he was able to retire the cane that had been necessary for mobility and start enjoying the simple things in life again. He lost the perpetual fear of oncoming pain and found serenity in the peace of the present moment. Matt is a certified Yoga teacher, regularly attends workshops, especially concerning trauma, and is continuing his training. He has three insanely wonderful children and an extraordinary wife, two dogs and a couple of cats. He believes in living a life of raw beauty and passionate purpose, cultivating integrity, staying vulnerable and humble, and sharing his gifts generously with the world.
