Join us at our Duke Energy Children’s Museum for a celebration of all things engineering! Indulge your child’s love of construction, the fascination of taking things apart, and their interest in super structures like bridges and skyscrapers during our day-long event. Compete in challenges, design and play with your own creations, and meet the professionals who have made their passions into careers!

Forklifts, Scissor lifts, and Excavators are just a few of the large machines operating around Union Terminal. Get up close and see some of the big equipment pieces being used for this big project.

Can you build an item without opening the bag full of parts? Test your abilities with one of our build in a bag projects as we discuss how to make stronger LEGO builds using engineering principles. Join Mark Clark of Cincinnati History in Brick as he shows how he translates new or historic images into practical building models.

Pick up your child’s construction hat and see how you can explore the museum to visit each contractor (*) and get a sticker for your hard hat! Children’s hard hats generously provided by the Construction Advancement Program of Greater Cincinnati while supplies last.

Meet one of our safety experts as we investigate the purposes of different safety equipment and how they work. Don’t miss a time lapse video showing all of the work being done to renovate Union Terminal.

Say “hi” to our representative as we talk about all of the trades we help train construction workers, engineers, and designers who love creating just like you, and find out more about each scope of work! See if you recognize parts of Union Terminal using our prints.

How tall will it go? See if you can build the tallest structure using only spaghetti and marshmallows.

How does water affect your daily life? Observe water’s movement on the Earth’s surface through an interactive ‘Water Model.’

Try out our challenge to construct your own bridge using only straws as we learn more about different types of bridges and their structures.

Head over to the Celebrations Classroom at the top of each hour for a fun demonstration as we demolish a wall and work together to build it back up by laying brick and spreading mortar. Capacity is limited.

Mix and pour plaster into one of our molds to take home your very own creation as we talk about some of the careers open to builders.

Join us as we learn more about electrical safety through interactive displays and activities.

Put your STEM skills to use while having fun as we solve problems by building machines.

Meet our Ozobots, tiny robots you can command while discovering more about the basics of coding.

Animal Spot
11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Animals Up Close- Meet one of the live animals that calls Cincinnati Museum Center home, and discover what makes it unique!

11:30 a.m. to noon: Boat Building- Will it float? Come talk with one of our program specialists as we use everyday items to create a boat and test its floatability in Water Works.

1 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Budding Scientists- Team Blind Builds- Explore how architects, engineers, and construction workers combine their skills to create incredible designs!

3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Catapults- Design, build, and test a catapult! Use your new creation to knock down a tall tower and learn about historical catapults.

3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Tower Power- How tall can you go? Use Legos to create a tower and test its durability by trying to knock it over with a variety of objects.

Corbett Theatre
10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Marble Run- Design and test a track for marbles. See if your marble can make it from the top to the bottom without falling off!

1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: LEGO Bridges- Put your engineering skills to the test by creating a bridge made of LEGO Bricks! Test the strength of your bridge by adding weight and seeing just how much it can hold.

4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Healthy Kids: Dance Party!- Let's Move! Challenge your body and show off your dance moves at a party that promote a healthy lifestyle.

Little Sprouts Farm
11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Building Blocks- Allow your little one to explore the fundamentals of building through an exploration of shapes. Visitors will be able to create a work of art to take home.

KidSPACE
10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Fairy Gardens- Work together to create a home for mythical fairies and design your very own fairy!

2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: ArtBUILD: Geometric Structures- Using sticks and dowels we will create large geometric multi-faceted structures!

Free for Museum members or included with admission into the Duke Energy Children’s Museum.

Children’s hard hats will be generously provided* by the Construction Advancement Program of Greater Cincinnati
