The Hive: A Center for Contemplation, Art, and Action
1662 Blue Rock St Suite 1A, Cincinnati 45223
Facilitated by Anne Minter
The study of yoga offers many pragmatic practices beyond the postures, or asana. In fact, according to the yogic science, the postures are largely practiced to prepare the practitioner for the more subtle, yet profound, practices of pranayama, mantra, mudra, and meditation. This 6 week workshop is a mini course on the practice of pranayama, the science of controlling and concentrating life force energy, or prana, in the human body. We will cover the Western science of the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, breath and breathing; the Eastern science of prana and breath; relevant studies from medical literature; and twenty distinct pranayama practices
Anne Minter is Adjunct Professor of Human Anatomy & Physiology at Miami University where she also teaches yoga and meditation, merging the best of the East/West medicinal teachings in the body-minds of hundreds of physician-nurse-clinicians in training.
