The Hive: A Center for Contemplation, Art, and Action
1662 Blue Rock St Suite 1A, Cincinnati 45223
Facilitated by Alice Connor.
How might I better address the barriers to listening to others in these divisive times? What shuts me down? What stands between me and love? What sort of self-understanding leads to receptivity and being present?
The Enneagram helps you see the place where you stand. It is a powerful portal into understanding yourself and others. It maps out the mental structure, the patterns of emotional energy and the distinct dynamics of 9 personality patterns.
This is a two-part course for those new to and familiar with the Enneagram. The first 5 weeks will be facilitated by Alice Connor and focus on self-awareness, empathy, and active listening with regards to your type and others. Classes will include facilitated discussions and contemplative practices.
These first 5 weeks will be followed by 3 weeks of panels facilitated by Enneagram master teacher, Leslie Hershberger. Each week she will focus on one of the three centers: “head,” “heart,” or “body.” Listening to people from each Enneagram type will help you discover how to recognize personality differences from direct experience. This method brings the Enneagram to life and people report a deepening of understanding and compassion for themselves and others.
The entire course will be facilitated with a lean toward the Ethics of the Enneagram, including sensitivity to how to free others to discover for themselves and an acknowledgement that the Enneagram system does not fully describe an individual.
Participants are encouraged to come having identified their number type, or having narrowed it down to a couple possible types. If you are new to the Enneagram you can prepare for this by reading a short introductory book such as Essential Enneagram by David Daniels, or Enneagram for Transformation by Riso and Hudson.
