Transforming Stress is an 8-week, 2-hour/session series that uses mindfulness as its foundation. Participants in this 8-session course will gain a first hand introduction to mindfulness practices involving breathing and gentle body movements and methods for incorporating mindfulness practices into their everyday life and work.
Mindfulness is a purposeful way of focusing attention in the present moment. Published research has shown that mindfulness training can be important adjuncts to conventional medical treatment of many disorders as well as powerful way of reducing stress and pain.
This course helps develop an awareness of the body and emotions and thoughtfully respond instead of react to situations. Learn to focus attention in the present moment.
You can learn these mindfulness techniques to alleviate stress, anxiety, panic, depression, chronic pain, and a wide range of medical conditions.
The course includes guided instruction in mindful meditation practices, gentle stretching and mindful yoga, group dialogue and discussions aimed at enhancing awareness in everyday life, and home assignments.
If you have a yoga mat, please bring it, along with a pen and paper; a copy of the presentation will be provided.
