The Butler Philharmonic Orchestra and Cincinnati Opera join forces July 16 for a pARTy in the Park fundraiser to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pyramid Hill.
7 p.m.: Concert ($30 per person)
Highlight of the evening will be the premier of “Vision on a Hill” by Paul Stanbery, composed in honor of Harry T. Wilks, the park’s founder and a longtime Cincinnati Opera supporter. The composition is being generously donated to the community by Paul in support of the park.
Paul Stanbery describes “Vision on a Hill”:
“It’s about 6 minutes long, beginning with Harry (represented by a solo French Horn) standing atop his barren acreage that will eventually become Pyramid Hill. Then, one by one, ideas begin to emerge, as if new sculptures are appearing. It is very festive by the end, and features nature and bird calls along the way. In this way my hope is to honor both Harry himself, as well as the vision to which he gave his life so endlessly and generously.”
